Law Student Board Liaisons
LGBT Bar NY’s Law Student Liaisons serve directly on the Boards of Directors for the LGBT Bar Association of Greater New York and the LGBT Bar NY Foundation (collectively, the “Board”).
Law Student Liaisons serve as non-voting members of the Board who are uniquely positioned to represent the interests, perspectives, and emerging priorities of current JD/LLM students and recent law graduates across the metropolitan area.
Appointed Liaisons gain comprehensive, behind-the-scenes exposure to the governance and operations of a major non-profit bar association, cultivate lasting professional relationships with leaders across the LGBTQ+ bench and bar, and work alongside Association Officers and Trustees to guide community initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in monthly LGBT Bar NY Board meetings, committee discussions, and community mixers.
- Serve as an official campus ambassador for LGBT Bar NY at your law school and among regional student affinity groups (OUTLaws).
- Support Association fundraising, development, and signature events, including volunteering at the annual gala and major community benefits.
- Facilitate two-way communication between student bodies and LGBT Bar NY leadership regarding programming, mentoring, and clinic initiatives.
- Uphold the organizational ethics, mission, and fiduciary standards of the Board.
