The Annual Gala powers the charitable and educational work of the LGBT Bar NY Foundation (a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization). For over 40 years, our Foundation has provided a safe harbor for LGBTQ+ New Yorkers, evolving alongside our community's legal and educational needs:
Flagship Walk-In Legal Clinic
Held every Tuesday at The Center in Manhattan for over 40 years, assisting over 1,000 visitors in 2025 with free guidance on housing, family law, immigration, and anti-discrimination.
Legal Referrals & Identity Access
Connecting community members with full representation through our Legal Referral Network, alongside our partnership with Legal Services NYC (LSNY) providing free name and gender marker changes.
Hank Henry Judicial Fellowships
Sponsoring law student fellows from schools like NYU Law, Brooklyn Law, and Seton Hall Law for intensive judicial internships within the New York courts, building the future legal pipeline.
LGBT Law Notes & Legal Scholarship
Publishing the nation’s oldest continuously running monthly legal journal dedicated to LGBTQ+ legal scholarship and jurisprudence since 1980, tracking landmark decisions nationwide.
Community & Cultural Heritage DEI
Fostering education and connection through cultural heritage events, historic walking tours of The Center, film screenings, and charitable educational forums for the public.
Pride Month & Public Outreach
Organizing dedicated Pride Month educational programming, active participation in the annual NYC Pride March, and year-round outreach that expands LGBTQ+ community visibility and support.
