LGBT Bar NY is proud to have joined with the National Alliance of State and Territorial AIDS Directors and other HIV, LGBTQ+ and Healthcare Organizations in support of access to necessary and life-saving preventative medication such as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).

 

On April 21, 2025, The Supreme Court will be hearing arguments in Kennedy v. Braidwood Management. At the District Court level, it was argued that covering PrEP for HIV prevention violates the Religious Freedom Restoration Act by forcing insurance companies to cover what some Plaintiffs considered morally objectionable behaviors and facilitating "homosexuality" and "drug use".

 

History and tradition have long recognized the importance of access to essential preventive treatments like PrEP, which have remarkably shifted the landscape in our fight against the HIV epidemic. These medical advancements and access to this treatment represent a significant public health victory. This access has changed lives, fostered hope in our community, and paved the way toward a healthier, more equitable future for all
