INTERNSHIP

PROGRAM

career fair-07.jpg

Under the guidance of LGBT Bar NY’s Legal Director and volunteer attorneys, interns participate in client intake, assist with legal research, organize case documents, learn valuable legal resources, and develop a deeper understanding of the profession. They have the opportunity to interact directly with clients through LGBT Bar NY’s free legal clinics, client phone calls, and online inquiries. As a result, LGBT Bar NY’s interns gain exposure to a wide range of legal issue and practice areas, including housing, criminal law, discrimination, employment, family law, immigration, and estate planning.

Summer internship applications will be available in January. Please contact support@lgbtbarny.org to receive future updates about LeGaL events and programs for Law Students.

The work at [LGBT Bar NY] proved to be very worthwhile.  It provided me with a taste of not only working in the legal profession, but also of working in the nonprofit sector.  Not only were the attorneys providing vital legal services to help improve the lives of members of the LGBT community, but they were also doing so with the utmost courtesy and professionalism. These people truly care about the clients that contacted us, and it was a pleasure working with them. [LGBT Bar NY] is a great organization to intern with and a great place to learn about the everyday work of attorneys and of life in the nonprofit sector.
